Ron put the truck in reverse at 15:33 p. m, according to my watch. After several back-and-forths and the neighbor moving his jeep, we unhooked from site 5603 at Lakewood Camping Resort. Located three spots from the beach, the ocean breeze cooled our sun-warmed skin as we enjoyed our post-setup drink.

Rode our bikes on the beach to Quarter Deck for happy hour. We enjoyed affordable drinks ($3.75 for wine, beer $4.00) and delicious Totchos, tater tots nachos.
We enjoyed the live music.
On the ride home, we had to walk the bikes. High tide had rolled in and leaving a tiny strip of hard sand, not enough to ride.
Morning beach walk with Ruby

Shopping at the Lakewood store, they had 30% off all clearance items. Finding several signs for the shop, I didn’t realize I hadn’t received the discount until after I got back to the Atlas.
After taking an afternoon nap with the pups, I returned to the store, where they corrected the mistake. I then braved crossing 17 to ride to Walmart for water bottles, our tool for quietening barking pups.
On my return, the pups and I sat in the sun. I worked on my short story while they napped in the sun’s rays.

Ron won the first round of the 2026 Myrtle Beach Classic, 14-13. Sinking a 30 ft putt for birdie, Beth’s eyes couldn’t believe what rhey saw.
With a look of amazement on her face, she fist bumped her hubby then gave him a kiss. Long Putt Morrison took victory.
After golf, Ron grilled. pork chops on the grill while I built a fire. We enjoyed a delicious dinner by the fire, then a quiet evening catching up on shows.

Morning walk with Ruby.

Biking the Waccamaw Bike Trail. We parked in Merrill’s Inlet and road to Litchfield Beach, exploring the Traditions Golf Course along the way.
Passing Southern Hops Brewery, we stopped on the way back for a pint and a delicious Pimento Cheese platter. The 77-degree day warmed our skin, replenished our vitamin D, and filled. our hearts with joy.
Before we retruned to the campground, we decided to play rounds 2 and 3 of the 2026 Myrtle Beach Classic:
At the end of three rounds, B. Morrison leads R. Morrison 40-39. With a one stroke lead, tomorrows final round will prove entertaining in the 2026 Myrtle Beach Classic.
Enjoying a quiet evening around the campfire, while Ron grilled steaks, Ruby made friends with the neighbor.
Exhausted from our active day, we called it a night a little after 9:00. With a 61-degree low for the night, we slept with the window open and the ocean waves lulling us to sleep.
Sunday morning, Ruby and I went for a walk on the beach. When I tried to get a picture of my toes in the water, she rebelled.
Wriggling out of her harness, she raced toward the camper. Thankfully, a gentleman walking his pups caught her attention. When she stopped to say hello, she came back to me.
Ruby didn’t notice the gentleman’s steely gaze and frowning lips. But I did.
Once back in her harness, order returned.
Eating Ron’s scrambled eggs and bacon quickly, we rode our bikes to church

“I was thinking about getting a coffee at the coffee place,” Ron said, eyes squinting into the sun. “I’m tired of that weak K-cup stuff.”
Off to Beach Bum Coffee House we rode.

Harbor View Golf 18 hole par three course hosted the final round of the 2026 Myrtle Beach Classic.
B. Morrison won the front nine 12-14, giving her a three-stroke lead as they teed off on the back nine. By hole 17, she all but closed the door on R. Morrison, who had to win all six of the remaining points to clinch the title.
Fighting nerves, B. Morrison hit a chip shot that rolled an inch onto the green, stealing victory from her husband and claiming the title.
Final Score: B. Morrison 57, R. Morrison 54

Blue Drum Waterfront restaurant overlooks a busy intercoastal waterway, perfect for watching boating life and celebrating a victory.

Last night by the fire.

After one last walk with Ruby on the beach, we loaded up into the truck for the trek home.
Thank you, Lakewood, for another fun weekend, and new memories made.
