Site 2 at Rocky Hock Campground housed us for the weekend. At a chilly 44 degrees, the furnace had an issue, running for only a few minutes before shutting off. Thankfully, the electric fireplace doubles as a heater.

“Are you David?”
As we pulled into our site, we saw David, Lindsey’s new boyfriend, walking back from the pond. His pleasant smile and easy demeanor immediately drew us to him. After we got settled into the site, they came over for a beer before we headed to town. Governor’s Pub had one table open when we arrived, and we quickly snagged it for an enjoyable evening of pizza and chatting.

The next morning, Ruby joined the crew on my lap, chilly since we had no furnace, but they kept me warm. Sleeping in until after 7:00, I didn’t get any writing done, but did enjoy the extra sleep. By the time I read my Bible and walked the dogs, our morning had flown by, and we headed to the Salomons’ for a day of thrifting and enjoying the quaint town of Edenton.

Walking the dogs around the pond, I got great shots of the campground and the Atlas.
When Lisa and I arrived in Edenton, the Christmas Parade had just finished. Pulling into the parking lot beside the thrift store, Santa and his helper unloaded their tractors. We found lots of goodies in the thrift store, before heading into town to meet Ally for lunch.

Joey decorated the Christmas tree in the tub, my favorite window along Main Street, and the nativity scene was my second. Lisa, Ally, and I enjoyed lunch at the Bistro before visiting Joey at Down East to help him make his sales goals and have a glass or two of complimentary wine.
Eventually, Ron and Dave met us at Down East, then walked with us to Malcolm’s for our annual warm toddy and cozy conversation around the gas firepit out back. By the time we finished and walked to truck at Herringbone’s, the sun had set and the lights began to shine.

Back at the trailer, we found Ruby’s mess. Losing one of our pillows, I tucked the rest of them away out of her reach. Once we fed and walked the pups, we headed back to the Salomons for Dave’s white chicken chili and a wonderful evening of friendship and conversation with the entire family.

With snow in the forecast, we decided to go home. right after church, hopefully avoiding it.
